Even In Low-Spirited PC Market, Netbooks Sales Still Soaring

It looks that Asus Eeepc has been responsible for kick-starting one of the few bright spots in the current PC climate. As more affordable models get into the fray, a new power structure may come forth among vendors as the market leans toward notebooks with ever-declining ASPs. What remains to be seen is how much cannibalization will come about, and the level to which mounting economic pressures will stifle PC market growth over the next year.
According to Jay Chou, research analyst with IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker, the proliferation of low-cost portable PCs coincided perfectly with market conditions. Affordable, sleeky and small? not just that, they’re also flying off the shelves .
